Photo: Gautam Rajani Now home to Mumbai’s fishing community, the Sassoon Docks – photographed by SMR Days co-founder Gautam Rajani – were once the centre of the cotton and silk trade, two of the fabrics central to SMR Days. “The Sassoon Docks are located in South Mumbai where I went to university, and I’ve always loved the bustle and colour of the docks. One of the most fun days to visit it is the Coconut Festival whereby the fishing community offer coconuts to the sea with singing and dancing – I captured this picture on the day after the celebration when the docks were particularly quiet and the colourful boats stood still.” – Gautam Rajani
